1. Introduction

LessIT is a personal educational website built by Lessi Coulibaly to explore Microsoft AI-driven cybersecurity technologies and share that knowledge with the community. Your privacy is very important to me. This privacy policy explains what data the site handles and how. In short: the site collects basic analytics and authentication data to improve the experience and protect script downloads. No data is sold to anyone. You have full control over your data and can delete it at any time.

2. Information Collected

2.1 Information You Provide

Contact form submissions - your name, email, and message when you reach out
AI chat interactions - conversation content processed by an AI service when the chat assistant is used
Authentication data - when you sign in to download scripts, the following is collected from your identity provider: your display name, user ID, and which provider you used (Microsoft or GitHub)

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

The site collects anonymous analytics data on every page visit to understand which content is most useful. This includes:

Pages visited and referrer URL
Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet), browser, and operating system
Screen resolution, language, and timezone
Time spent on page and scroll depth
Whether you are a new or returning visitor

A random visitor ID is generated and stored in your browser's localStorage to distinguish returning visitors. The site does not collect IP addresses or use third-party tracking services.

2.3 Script Download Tracking

When you download a script while signed in, the site logs the script name, your display name, user ID, and identity provider. This is used to understand which scripts are most useful and to monitor for abuse.

To respond to inquiries submitted through the contact form
To power the AI chat assistant when you choose to use it
To understand which content and scripts are most valuable and improve the site
To authenticate users for script downloads via Microsoft Entra ID or GitHub
To monitor script download activity and prevent abuse

5. Third-Party Services

Microsoft Entra ID and GitHub OAuth - used for authentication when downloading scripts. The site receives your display name and user ID from the provider you choose. Their respective privacy policies apply.
AI chat assistant - uses a cloud-based AI service to process conversations. Conversations are sent to the AI endpoint only when the chat assistant is actively used. The AI service provider's data privacy policies apply to those interactions.
Microsoft Azure - the site is hosted on Microsoft Azure infrastructure. Microsoft's privacy policies apply to the hosting and authentication services.

6. Data Security

Appropriate technical measures are in place to protect your information. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Chat history is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to any server beyond what is needed for AI processing.

7. Your Rights

You may:

Clear all locally stored data (including visitor ID and chat history) through your browser settings
Reject cookies via the cookie consent banner
Delete your analytics data instantly using the "Delete My Data" button on the Scripts page while signed in - this removes all login and download events tied to your account
Request deletion of any contact form data by emailing contact@lessit.net
Choose not to use the AI chat assistant
Browse the site without signing in (authentication is only required for script downloads)

8. Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. No information is knowingly collected from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
